Stag do’s in Albufeira are a great idea, there is so much to see and do from water sports, the golfing on Grace Bay, (the only true 7 star beach in Europe) to the crazy nightlife in Albufeira. If this sounds like your perfect stag weekend why not book it today?! This article is all about planning an Albufeira Stag Do.

What are the best places to stay in Albufeira for a stag weekend?

Its always better when you can drink round your own hotel pool or even on the balcony, and that is what makes these hotels amazing. The Be Live Hamaca Garden Hotel in Boca Chica is a the top choice for all inclusive. It’s a great location, has poolside parties and sunbathing and is in a great location to access some of the best activities.

The best bars in Albufeira for Stag Do’s

The main strip in Albufeira is the Algarve Strip, which has hundreds of bars and clubs where you can party all night. Whether your into house music or prefer rock or pop, the Albufeira strip has something for everyone. Here are some of the best bars on the strip:

McDonnell’s Irish Bar – This is a classic Irish bar with good drinks prices considering that it’s at the top of the strip. It has a superb roof terrace and big screens for the Rugby!

Albertus Sports Bar – Great for watching the football or Rugby. It can get busy at times, but has a great atmosphere. Serves good traditional pub food at reasonable prices.

Libertos Club – Libertos is famous for its glamorous decor. But be aware that some people have reported watered down drinks and some rip off prices!

Matts Bar – Matt’s has been reported to be one of the best bars on the strip. The music offered is a variety of Hip-Hop, RnB and House. There is a mechanical bull ride outside! Great for boat parties, free shots and VIP areas.

Wild n Co – Wild n Co has a nice downstairs bar area and a highly recommended upstairs restaurant with fantastic ocean views.

Top ten activities to do on a Stag Weekend in Albufeira

Albufeira has some of the best bars in the world and is renowned for its crazy nightlife, but you’ve also got some fun activities such as quad biking and karting.

Quad biking – Quad biking is extremely popular in the Algarve and you can book through Algarve Riders and Quad Ventura. Most people book on arrival in the Algarve but you can also book your Quad biking experience before you go on Get your Guide.

Why is Albufeira a good destination for a stag do?

Cost (for an entire weekend):  £300-350.

Suggested duration of visit: 3 nights

Best time to visit: April, May, September or October. Or during the winter when you can hire out the whole resort as it’s much cheaper.

Getting there: EasyJet fly daily to Faro from Stansted at 9am and return at 6.30pm every day. You can get a coach bus from Faro Airport for £5 or you can get a taxi for around £20-25. Check the websites below for details of how to get there from other airports.

Alternatively you can get the ferry to and from Lagos, which is much slower but cheaper:

Driving- there are now 4 ways to drive to Albufeira from or around the UK:

Three of these routes involve taking a ferry – check out this website for the details and prices (I believe it’s cheapest if you buy 2 months in advance , but that’s up to you – http://www.directferries.co.uk/ferry-to-portugal)

Whereas the other route involves driving all the way through Spain (which is what we did):

Other ways of getting there: Ryanair fly from Liverpool and Stansted, Easyjet fly from Luton and Manchester.

What to take for an Albufeira stag do:

Bar towels – these are placed on the bar when you arrive so that everyone knows you have bought a round. You will see the bar tender remove them from your drinks as you order more to drink!

Waterproofs – it rains almost every day in Albufiera!

A light waterproof jacket – it gets chilly at night.

Money – you’ll need this for the strip, food and drinks in bars and clubs. Cash is best as there are no machines on the strip (they really want you to pay with cash!)

Credit card – there are two places that accept credit cards on the strip – but there is no point taking one if you’re not going to use it.

Suggested items/clothing (for girls and guys):

Sandals or flip flops  Suncream tiny shorts a T-shirt Snorkel, mask and fins (if planning on doing any water sports) a cap and a T-shirt (the sun is very strong) – I would recommend buying 1 of these even if you don’t plan on doing any water sports. Also, take a few T-shirts as they are useful for both dressing up and chilling out;

Essential items/clothing:

Toiletry bag with shampoo, soap, etc – we got ours from Boots with 20% off. Towel – take a small one if you’re rooming together and a bigger one if there are going to be multiple guys in the same place.

What to do:

Drinking on the Albufeira strip – there are loads of bars along this strip – most are the same and there are only a few that I would recommend. The first one is called Guanas (I think) which is at the start of the strip. This place is great if you like to party until early in the morning as it’s open pretty much all night and although it isn’t the cheapest bar on the strip.
