If you’re someone who hates getting up early enough for the breakfast menu and instead enjoys that amazing combination that is breakfast and lunch, then worry not! Porto offers some incredible cafes and restaurants providing a fantastic array of brunch options at great affordable prices! Whether you’re looking for a healthy option, something light or something more substantial to keep you going throughout the day, Porto will have something on offer for you!
Here are 7 of some of the amazing options Porto has for brunch spots and just why we think they’re so amazing:
Zenith Brunch and Cocktail Bar
This beautiful venue doesn’t offer a set menu, you can instead choose from a wide array of options, with both English and continental offerings available. Menu options include items such as banana bread with blueberry jam, chicken tapioca with cheddar and avocado and poached and breaded eggs with a hollandaise sauce. There are also plenty options for vegetarians and vegans to choose from. There are an array of drinks on offer to complement your meal, from various coffee drinks, fresh orange juice or a special Zenith sangria made with sparkling wine, strawberry and mango! Zenith is my absolute favourite brunch place in Porto.
O Diplomato
If, when you think of brunch, you think pancakes, then this is the place for you! There are 4 brunch menus on offer here, ranging from €6-€10. All feature 2 of the fluffiest pancakes you will ever taste, with butter and honey and a cold and a hot drink. You can then choose from an array of accompaniments such as beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, eggs, bacon, and acai bowls. For an extra €1.50, you can choose to add a smoothie, mimosa, or two-fruit juice to your brunch! If you prefer your pancakes with some sweet offerings, you can choose to top them with fruit, ice-cream and chocolate! Additional toppings are available for small add-on charges.
Vicios de Mesa
This restaurant offers a mini brunch, a brunch for one and a brunch for two. Food on the menu includes offerings such as scrambled/fried eggs, bacon, green salad, pancakes with lemon curd and the house ricotta! They also offer unlimited filter coffee or lemonade with your brunch, to help you wash down all that tasty food! Special offerings also include their amazing quesadillas, homemade granola and their decadent dark chocolate mousse!
Do Norte cafe
This cosy cafe offers tasty, simple food at great prices, ranging from €4-€13. This cafe gives off cosy log house vibes and is a lovely setting to chill out with a good book and enjoy a coffee with some great food! One of the most popular options on their menu is the salty waffles and smoked salmon salad. Don’t be put off by the name, the waffles aren’t actually salty, but rather deliciously savoury and the smoked salmon compliments them amazingly!
NATA Lisboa – Rua das Flores
A cafe offering some yummy European and Portuguese brunch choices! It’s location in the centre of Porto, close to the train station, makes it a popular choice. While here you have to try the hot chocolate, it’s rich and indulgent! The Pastels de Nata (custard tarts) that are served here are some of the best you will taste! If you don’t have some with your brunch, it’s always worth getting some to take away – you won’t be disappointed!
Dana Pe de Cabra
This quint family run cafe is close to Porto cathedral, making it a brilliant brunch spot if you’re thinking of seeing the cathedral afterwards. The owner is incredibly friendly and speaks fluent English and French as well as Portuguese. Menu prices range from €3 to €33 and all items are fresh, local and made to order. The fresh orange and homemade lemonade are zingy refreshing options and the chestnut torradas here are incredible! One important thing to note however, is that this venue is cash only, although there is an atm just down the street.
Garden Porto Cafe
The menu for this cafe is one of the most extensive I’ve seen! There’s bound to be something on the menu for even the fussiest of eaters with pancakes, toasts, waffles, açai bowls, eggs… the list goes on! From noon, they also serve ‘street food’ such as chicken wings, burgers and amazing tacos! The prices are great too! The only downside, is that this cafe can get pretty busy, very quickly, so it can be difficult to get a seat at times. It can also be pretty noisy!
There we have it, 7 incredible options for brunch in Porto. There’s bound to be at least one that appeals to you! Personally, I’m salivating at the thought of some fluffy pancakes! But whatever you choose, you’re sure to enjoy!
