Manchester to Lisbon Easyjet Flights

When I’m travelling to Lisbon from the UK I usually get the Manchester to Lisbon Easyjet flight. It’s a fast, cheap and convenient way to get to Portugal. From Lisbon, you have train links throughout most of the country, and so if Lisbon is not your final destination then you can easily continue your journey from there. However, there are some drawbacks with cheap airlines such as Easyjet, and so it’s important to be aware of some of the issues.

How long is the flight?

The flight time from Manchester to Lisbon with Easyjet is around 2 hours 45 minutes.

When do they fly from Manchester to Lisbon?

Manchester to Lisbon Easyjet flights go out on a Sunday (06.50am) and a Tuesday (07.05am), so your schedule will need to fit in with their days and times. They don’t fly this route daily.

As the flights are very early, you will either need to arrange an early morning transfer or stay overnight. The Holiday Inn (Manchester Airport) and Double Tree by Hilton are good options. Remember you need to arrive at the airport 2 hours before your flight to check in and get through security.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Manchester to Lisbon Easyjet Flights

There are several advantages and disadvantages of flying Manchester to Lisbon with Easyjet. The biggest advantage is that it’s cheap! As of todays date (8th September 2021) I can see flights to Lisbon as cheap as £22.99 on the Easyjet website for this route. It’s probably much cheaper than usual to encourage people to travel post pandemic, but even in usual times, flight prices are good.

However, you may want to consider the following:

  • Long queues and disorganised boarding
  • You need to pay extra for luggage (checked and cabin bag)
  • You need to pay extra for food and drinks
  • There may be delays with paperwork checks

Their baggage policy was updated in February 2021 and it now says: ‘Everyone can take one small cabin bag per person on board (maximum size 45 x 36 x 20cm, including any handles or wheels), which must fit under the seat in front of you.’ If you have an oversize bag or a musical instrument you must tell them in advance and book it on, otherwise the penalties could be rather hefty!

If you pay for extra leg room you can also bring on board an additional large cabin bag (Maximum size 56 x 45 x 25 cm). EasyJet Plus cardholders and customers who have bought a FLEXI fare can also bring two bags on board.

I usually like to upgrade to ‘Standard Plus’ which allows me the benefits of priority boarding and one extra cabin bag. It also allows you to choose an up front seat.
