Ericeira Bars and Nightlife

As a small fishing village, Ericeira may not immediately pop into your mind when thinking of somewhere that’s going to have great bars and fantastic nightlife.

Yet Ericeira has some fantastic pubs and bars on offer, whether you’re looking for a quiet spot for a couple of drinks or somewhere more lively where you can have a little boogie too!

Best Ericeira Bars and Nightlife spots

Below are just four of the lovely bars that Ericeira has to offer:

Jukebox

If you are a lover of all things 80s, then this is the spot for you. This laidback bar focuses on alternative 80s music – jazz, blues, rock, funk, and even occasionally some live music there’s something for everyone!

There are a variety of drinks available here, but most people who come here agree that it’s the cocktails that are the stars here! They do all the classic cocktails that you can expect at most bars, for reasonable prices. They also regularly experiment with concoctions of their own and are more than happy to offer free samples of them to customers on quieter nights!

This bar is open Monday to Saturday from 8 pm to 2 am.

Sunset Bamboo

This trendy beach vibe cafe bar has a relaxed, casual, bohemian atmosphere. They have a food menu, featuring a variety of tasty healthy options such as pancakes, sandwiches and acai bowls.

There is a good choice of drinks available, especially beers and cocktails. The great thing about this little spot is that during the summer it is open from 10 am to 11 pm, so if you were feeling inclined, you could pop in for breakfast in the morning, then go back in the evening for some cocktails.

The staff are very friendly and welcoming, they’re happy to suggest options if you’re unsure of what to order.

As mentioned, during the summer it is open from 10 am right through to 11 pm Thursday to Tuesday. For the rest of the year, it is open from noon until 8 Thursday to Tuesday.

Puro Malte

A bit of a different offering with this choice. This is a lovely Portuguese pub, absolutely loved by the locals but sadly, often overlooked by visitors to the area.

Its location is fabulous – right in the heart of Ericeira, near many restaurants. Within this pub, there are two main rooms with plenty of seating and also a dance floor area. Prior to 11 pm, this pub offers a relatively quiet, relaxed setting to go and enjoy a couple of drinks and perhaps even a meal. After 11 pm is when it tends to get busier with the locals flocking to enjoy a drink at their favourite pub. There is a good selection of wines, beers and spirits to be found here.

There is also some limited seating outside of this pub, which does tend to fill up fast! After 11 pm, people will often spill out onto the street in front of the pub and there will be many a lively conversation or even some dancing in the street happening.

Puro Malte is open every night of the week, from 6 pm right through to 3 am. Naturally, going during the week will be quieter than going during at the weekend but that all depends on whether you’re wanting to enjoy a couple of quiet drinks or get swept up in the more lively atmosphere.

Hemingway’s Cafe Bar

It may be last on our list but it is by no means least! Many consider this cafe bar to be an institution within Ericeira.

It is a small, dimly lit, informal cocktail bar, that does also have some tables available outside. It serves a fantastic array of wines, pints, spirits and cocktails, however, the main selling point of this bar is the vast amount of different gins it has to offer – over 70! If you love a good gin and tonic, or a gin-based cocktail, you definitely have to try a drink (or two) at this bar. There is also a small but tasty selection of food available too.

Hemingway’s is open every day from 6 pm to 3 am, it tends to be at its busiest between 8 pm and 11 pm most nights.

One thing to note, with all bars in Ericeira, is that they all tend to be on the smaller side. Some do let you call in advance and pre-book a table. Others work on a strictly, first come, first serve basis and if they’re busy, you simply have to wait or try somewhere else.

All staff in the bars tend to be friendly and welcoming and will try to accommodate you as best as they can.

Of course, the above list just gives you a snapshot of what nightlife in Ericeira can look like, there are many other bars, pubs, etc., available. But we hope we’ve demonstrated that although it may be small, Ericeira does still have lively nightlife.
